History

The Asian Xenotransplantation Association (AXA) was established with the mission of advancing xenotransplantation science, fostering regional collaboration, and promoting ethical practices to address the critical organ shortage crisis in Asia.

AXA’s foundational goals are closely aligned with the urgent need for innovative medical solutions and structured cooperation across the region. The Association is dedicated to creating a sustainable platform for scientific exchange, supporting technology transfer, and developing harmonized guidelines to ensure the highest standards of research integrity, clinical safety, and biological security. Through these efforts, AXA aims to significantly contribute to public health improvement and human welfare throughout Asia.

Mission

The AXA’s mission is to advance xenotransplantation as a safe, ethical, and accessible therapeutic solution for Asia by:

  • Fostering scientific excellence through the promotion of innovative preclinical and clinical research, collaborative dialogue, and knowledge exchange across the region;
  • Educating medical professionals, researchers, and the public through inclusive participation, transparent communication, and tailored outreach initiatives;
  • Guiding the formulation of scientifically grounded and regionally adaptable policies that align with evolving technological advancements while respecting diverse cultural, ethical, and regulatory contexts in Asia.
